Thank you for visiting my GoFundMe page today and taking the time to read my story. My name is Felipe, I am 62 years old and I have lived in San Jose, CA for about 39 years. 

I was the head of the household and primary caretaker of my wife who is unable to work due to her back injuries. I covered our living expenses, including rent, food, utilities, clothing and my wife's medical costs that her insurance does not cover. Unfortunately, in October of 2019, I had a seizure and injured my arm when I dropped to the floor. At the hospital, I was informed of a brain mass that needed to be taken out immediately.

While I have recovered from my brain surgery, I still continue to get seizures randomly. In mid-December 2020, I had another seizure and was hospitalized again for another surgery due to an infection on my clavicle.

I was able to get through and care for my wife for most of 2020 despite the adversities with the help of friends, kind donations, and my temporary disability benefits from the state. However, my disability benefits have run out. I was excluded from the government's stimulus financial assistance and and I am NOT eligible to apply for unemployment benefits, or any other state or federal financial assistance due to my immigration status.  I am behind on rent and my medical bills keep accumulating.

I am very grateful for your time and kindness. I have overcome many obstacles in life because of my resiliency and the support of generous people who I have the pleasure to cross paths with. I still have many challenges ahead of me but I am confident that I can get through them with my friends, family and community by my side. I am hoping to heal soon from my recent surgery to look for a job and get back on my feet.
