Umi’ s Brain Surgery Recovery and Daughters College Needs

My name is Brianne Sargent and I’m creating this gofundme on behalf of a very special person, Shavae S, affectionately known by many as Umi Yaa. She has recently undergone brain surgery Wednesday June 12 and is still fighting tirelessly. She’s been a pillar to her community for many years as an entrepreneur, activist, volunteer, advocate and mentor in the DFW metroplex. She’s an exceptional single mother who has successfully homeschooled her 3 children, 2 of which are off to college this upcoming semester—a sophomore and freshman respectively. This procedure has happened during a time that she was preparing to send her kids off to college while preparing her last child for their senior year of high school. This amazing woman needs her village and a lot of help from the community. Let’s unify to help this exceptional woman and her 3 scholars to minimize the medical bills that are harrowing in her direction and the upcoming college expenses/needs so that she may peacefully recover as she is still being hospitalized.
