Unexpected Plumbing Disaster After Buying Our Home

Donation protected
Hi my name is Amanda. I am married to Chris and we have 3 daughters ages 14,11, and 6. This is our story:

4 months ago we bought a home closer to our support system and better job opportunities. On Sept 1 we moved in. We went through the entire process of buying the house. We did everything we knew to do right including trusting our agent and having a home inspection. 3 weeks after moving in we began to have plumbing issues. We had been told that the cast iron pipes under the concert slab was deteriorated and needed replaced. We were quoted $10,000 for the repair of the pipes under the kitchen slap leading out of the house. We were also told that there was no way that this kind of deterioration was not known. We called our agent and who told us to get a 2nd opinion, which we did. That plumber came out and found that several of the pipes in the house was deteriorated and gave us a quote of $20000. We ended up paying $4,000 for a temporary fix. Fast forward to 2 weeks before Christmas. We came home from church and found water coming up through the kitchen floors. A couple days later the water started coming up in the bedroom floors and closet. The next day we had about an inch of water in the master bedroom and found that the hot water tank had gone out. There was also this terrible smell. So, we called a plumber. The plumber sent out Flood Rescue who found moisture in the floors, baseboards, walls, and cabinets. The Plumbers confirmed it was sewage. They ran their camera's through the pipes and found again that the pipes were deteriorated all under the kitchen concrete slab and master slab with the main break under the slab in the kitchen leading out of the house. The pipes in the exterior part of the house were found to be deteriorated with root intrusion. For the entire repair we were quoted $25,000-$30000. This does not include the replacement of some cabinets, vanity, and shower in the master bath that will be ripped out to get to the plumbing. We found out that our insurance will only cover the flood rescue part of the problem. Meaning, replacement of the floor, sheetrock, baseboards, and MAYBE the cabinets. We contacted our Home Warranty, that we were told to get to insure our sale, to cover the plumbing side of things. They will only pay $500 towards, this is an $850 warranty that was paid for at closing. I contacted our mortgage who passed me around to 5 different people with no solution. Lastly, I contact a lawyer who told us we could pursue the sellers for no disclosure of the plumber with the exception of one line they replaced, but litigation would be expensive, long, and no guarantee that the judgement would be paid. We checked our disclosures and found that for the sewer system was checked to be in working order but plumbing was marked none/ not included. On a question about previous water seepage and draining issues with the home home they put "no." I feel that only half-truths were spoken in these disclosures after talking to neighbors , a friend of theirs, and another interested buyer. We learned that previous owners had a had flood, pipe breakage, and a smell that they could not find. We were told that plumbers hod been seen here multiply of times. I find it hard to believe that these sellers knew nothing of this problem. Cast iron pipes don't deteriorate over night.

I am sharing my story because this has put major distress on our family. We can not afford to replace this plumbing. We are unable to stay in our home as most of the flooring and walls have been taken out and fans have been placed to dry up water. We only sleep here at night. We need help. We are asking for the help of $15,000 to get the plumbing fixed. We believe that we can get the help needed to do the hard labor of jack hammering the floors and digging to the pipes, however still need a licensed plumber or someone with knowledge to come lay the pipes. I will add pictures of the damage so far and keep everyone updated in the process. The funds will be strictly used for the plumbing. We have already been donated some funds and we are very grateful for that. I don't like asking for help but in this case I have no other choice. Help our family get back to normal.
