Supporting STEM Education for schools in Pakistan

Hello! My name is Hiba Batool. I am helping my 13-year-old nephews raise funds for underserved schools in Pakistan. Below is their story:

Hi, we are Hashim and Ayaan. We, along with our team "Ninjas-Fairies" are raising donations for underserved schools in Pakistan, as part of the Service Challenge by Destination Imagination (https://www.destinationimagination.org/challenge-experience/challenge-previews/).

The current literacy rate in Pakistan is 62.3%, which means that 60 million of the population in the country is illiterate. Furthermore, the quality of education remains subpar for those with access to schools. Many schools do not teach STEM education, which can be attributed to their limited resources. As such, graduates are not well-equipped to gain insights and overcome modern world challenges.

My team, "Ninja-Fairies", has been participating in STEM learning since we were 4 years old. It allowed us to participate in international competitions such as WAICY, Destination Imagination, Wonder Workshop. We developed a scientific and creative problem-solving approach through these competitions, expanding our horizons.

We now want to bring this experience to the underserved schools in Pakistan, so their students can also be exposed to a more modern way of learning.

Of course, there are costs associated with entering these competitions, which schools often cannot pay.

Through raising funds on the GoFundMe platform, we are aiming to play our part in helping underserved schools deal with the problem of resource limitation and help the youth gain a better way of learning through these experiences.

The fund will sponsor teams from underserved schools to enter multiple competitions. We have previously helped several groups enrol in competitions that gave them international exposure. You can check it out here: Making Champions
