Ukrainian Family Coming to Thorhild
Beschermde donatie
I am raising funds for a family fleeing from the war in Ukraine and coming to Thorhild, AB. Shortly after the war broke out, Lilia Vovk fled with her 3 children (Rostylslav, 10 yo; Viktoria, 3 yo; and Volodymyr, 6 mo). They spent three days at the Poland-Ukraine border in their car, finally reaching their temporary shelter near Krakow. Her husband Yuri stayed behind. Prior to the war, Yuri worked as a Vice Chancellor of International affairs at Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University. Since the war began, Yuri has been helping with the receiving of humanitarian aid from other countries. They are from the Lviv region in Ukraine. Having been in Ukraine during the Russian Invasion in 2014, they have decided that now is the time to leave Ukraine in hopes they can offer their family a better life here in Canada. Their flights are booked and they are set to arrive May 20th.
My husband and I have a vacant home on an acreage and are planning to host this family for a year. We are providing free accommodations (including utilities), as well as paid employment for Yuri on our farm. The home is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom ~1800 sq foot bungalow. We are hoping to have the home fully furnished. We are also planning to provide them with a vehicle (with carseats), so that they are able to get around.
All funds raised through the GoFundMe will go towards supporting this family, including covering the costs of food, vehicle costs, technology (cell phones), clothing, baby supplies, toys, cookware, kitchen provisions, etc.
We cannot wait to welcome this family to Canada. Thank you for your support!
