UKRAINE MED RELIEF - ROCHESTER HEALTHCARE WORKERS

Donation protected
The Russian war on Ukraine has so far resulted in the internal displacement of ¼ of Ukraine’s population of 44 million people, with several million more forced to flee as refugees outside of the country. There is not a part of Ukraine untouched by this war. Ukraine’s medical system is stressed to the breaking point. Evidence that Russian forces are deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure such as hospitals, clinics, and schools has already led 41 nations to refer Russia’s behavior to the International Criminal Court for the investigation of war crimes.

Our medical colleagues in Ukraine desperately need our help. Hospitals and clinics need basic supplies as well as medications to continue functioning.

We are two Rochester area child neurologists motivated to organize the delivery of needed medical supplies directly to physician colleagues in Ukraine in collaboration with the Ukrainian Ministry of Health.

Dr. Yuliya Snyder received her MD with honors from Kharkiv State Medical University, and then completed her child neurology training and neuromuscular fellowship at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She is currently a child neurologist at Rochester Regional Health (https://www.rochesterregional.org/physician-directory/s/snyder-yuliya).

Dr. Alex Paciorkowski received his MD from the University of Connecticut, where he then completed pediatrics and medical genetics training, followed by child neurology training at Washington University in St. Louis. He is currently a child neurologist and neurogeneticist at the University of Rochester Medical Center / Golisano Children’s Hospital (https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/people/21779848-alexander-r-paciorkowski).

Working with pediatricians and child neurologists who are on the ground in Kharkiv and Lviv and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (https://moz.gov.ua/dopomozhit-ukrainskim-medikam-ta-armii), first we have assembled a list of needed non-medication hospital supplies and over-the-counter medications. We are working with Nova Poshta (https://novaposhta.ua/eng/) and Polish coordinators to deliver these items to Ukraine, including to this Child Neurology Hospital in Ukraine (https://5detlik.city.kharkov.ua/) and then other medical facilities in need. Second, we are assembling a list of non-controlled substance medications that we will purchase through charitable organization  www.blessing.org that we will ship to Ukraine.

As this project continues, further waves of donations to specific hospitals or directly to the Ukrainian Ministry of Health will be sent, and we will be creative as the situation in Ukraine unfolds about the best ways of delivering medical aid. We are also collaborating with other aid groups (such as https://www.intervol.org) to increase our impact and save on shipping costs as opportunities arise.

WE NEED YOUR HELP – We are collecting monetary donations to support the purchase of medical supplies and non-controlled substance medications now for Ukrainian hospitals. If you prefer to purchase the actual supplies, you can find the list of needed items here: https://www.amazon.com/registries/custom/2G67V350PGFV5/guest-view?ref=cm_sw_em_r_gr_un_Hmfknllpb9B0s  , and we will be happy to add them to our shipments. Please give what you can.   Local connections to the medical community and people in Ukraine will allow us to ensure the supplies get directly to those in need. We will be providing updates as this project continues.
