United for Black Lives are Fundraising to Kill the Bill
United for Black Lives are fundraising on behalf of Kill the Bill Official in order to oppose the dacronian PCSC Bill.
The bill seeks to seriously clamp down on peaceful protests, effectively rendering them meaningless, expand on police’s racist stop and search practice and criminalise the traditional Traveller and Roma ways of life. This is the latest in a series of coordinated attacks from our government, handing more power to the police and the state, while our own legal protections and rights are taken from us.
We will not allow this to happen. Already the PCSC bill has proven to be incredibly unpopular and has seen momentous pushback across the country. On the 3rd of April we galvanised a huge amount of support with demonstrations held in 50 cities across the UK from Glasgow to Brighton. In London thousands marched from the Speakers Corner to Parliament Square where the crowd were addressed by Jeremy Corbyn, Zarah Sultana and many more. On the 17th of April we held a further day of action in central London to great success with more actions happening up and down the country. Our next day of action is fast approaching on the 29th of May.
But we Need Your Help
So far Kill the Bill Official has run solely on the skills, dedication and time activists have been willing and able to give. What we’ve seen spring from this has been incredible. But we need funds to keep up our momentum and to ensure we can oppose this bill with all our strength.
So far, our expenses have been numerous. Your donation would go to cover campaigning costs, travel/ensuring accessibility/safeguarding for speakers/activists, training, PPE so we can be COVID safe, advertising, legal representation for those who need it and funds for equipment such as loudspeakers, megaphones and banners. If you are able to donate, no matter how small, any amount is welcome.
Together we can stop this bill. The response we have already seen is incredible with solidarity from so many different activist groups fighting this together. But remember, this is just the beginning!
