All In for Blake

"All In for Blake" is a fundraising event to provide support for a member of our community Blake Bauer. He and his wife Amanda along with their two boys, Cameron age 7 and Cayden who turns 5 in November, reside in Fairhope. Blake, at age 32, works as a corrections officer at the Fairhope Police Department and has been recently diagnosed with cancer. Just a few short weeks ago he developed pain in his leg. Initially the physicians thought he had developed a blood clot. Over the next week or two the pain and swelling became unbearable and testing revealed that this was not only a blood clot but also a tumor. Preliminary testing and a biopsy have been done at M.D. Anderson and results show a rare form of sarcoma. The family will have to fly to and from Texas for treatment that will most likely include radiation to shrink the tumor, surgery, and chemotherapy. The expense of treatment on top of insurance will be costly not to mention the other added expenses of travel, food, and overnight stays.
