Tyson's Lymphoma Fund

Spende geschützt
On 5/19/2017, our Dogo Argentino, Tyson, was admitted to Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Center (VSEC) in Levittown, PA. He was vomiting, unable to eat, drink water, or go to the bathroom. We suspected that he had a blockage, either from an inflamed GI tract, or from swallowing something that he shouldn't have. On 5/20, the doctor called us to report the result of his abdominal ultrasound, and that they had found his lymph nodes in his abdomen were greatly enlarged. This, the doctor explained, is typical of Lymphoma. At only 2 years, 3 months old, we could not believe Lymphoma was even a possibility for our young, active pup. They performed a biopsy on one of the lymph nodes in his abdomen. Upon immediate study of the biopsy, the doctor dropped Lymphoma lower on the list of possibilities. We were so relieved, but not out of the woods yet. Next, the doctor explained that his abdomen was filled with free fluid. He asked if we had recently removed any attached ticks from Tyson - we had done so earlier this season. The doctor explained that Tyson's symptoms may align with a tick-related infection, and that they were going to start him on Doxycycline antibiotic, then monitor for improvement. Tyson receives Frontline every month, so we were surprised that a tick could still do this much damage. On 5/21, we were able to bring Tyson home after he showed signs of improvement (began eating, went to the bathroom etc)

The evening of 5/21 at home was unsuccessful for Tyson. He was once again refusing food, water, and began vomiting. We called VSEC and they asked that we bring him back in. In hopes of avoiding another overnight stay, they gave him a single shot of Cerenia anti-nausea to stop the vomiting, and we were then able to bring him home.

The morning of 5/22 brought no signs of improvement. Tyson was still refusing to eat or drink. By the afternoon the final biopsy and fluid test results were back - the tick-related infection was taken off of the list of possibilities, and the possibility of Lymphoma once again rose to the top of the list. In order to conclude one way or another, they explained that he would need another biopsy, but this time they would need to extract more tissue, rather than a smaller sample of cells as they did on 5/20. We brought him back in to VSEC the evening of 5/22, and he was once again admitted. The results of his more-invasive biopsy should be back by the end of this week. In the meantime, he will start a steroid regimen after the biopsy procedure is completed the morning of 5/23.

Tyson's treatment to-date at VSEC has left us with a $4600.00 bill for the high end estimate. Photos of his bills are below. Any donation, large or small, will make a huge difference. We aren't yet sure what Tyson's care will be moving forward, which is why we are reaching out now to help cover expenses to-date. We are so thankful to VSEC and their staff for all that they have done for Tyson over the last 4 days and counting, and are grateful for any help that the Go Fund Me community can provide. Thank you very much.
