Typhoon Rai Donation Drive

On December 16, Category 5 Super Typhoon Rai (Local name: Odette) ravaged the Philippine regions of Visayas and Mindanao, leaving significant damage to the land and livelihoods of local communities. It was the 15th typhoon to hit the Philippines in 2021.

The typhoon resulted in intense floods and landslides throughout the region, causing over 300,000 individuals to evacuate their homes. Many still haven't been able to reach loved ones due to telecommunications and power in these islands going out, making relief operations extremely difficult.

Many of these communities are still recovering from the damages brought from past typhoons that have been increasing in frequency and strength due to climate change. The Philippines is one of the most vulnerable countries to the effects of the climate crisis, and we continue to feel its worsening effects every year. This is a reminder that we cannot afford to reach 1.5°of warming and must hold industries and governments accountable.

Extinction Rebellion Philippines and our partner organizations are kindly asking for your help. Your donations will be used to provide direct aid (food, water, medical supplies, shelter kits, etc.) to affected communities.
