Two Single Sisters

Donation protected
Two now senior sisters are shown above in the 1980's: Jennifer Frutig on the left, Judy Frutig on the right.  In their later years, Judy provided the majority of the income to sustain their modest life-style.  But she passed on suddenly February 28, 2018, leaving Jennifer with virtually no income, and no family.  Jennifer and Judy had shared a small apartment and a 12 year old Chrysler Caravan.  Because even moderate living costs are high in today's environment, the financial needs in her senior community are too high for Jennifer alone.

UPDATE   Now just a month after her sister's passing,  Jennifer is grateful to all who have given to this fundraising effort.  Our goal of $30,000 has been 1/3 realized.  More is needed to provide Jennifer with a sustainable future plan for this year.  She is exploring the options of where to move within The Willows campus, by looking over smaller units, and hopes to finalize plans within the month of April.

BACKGROUND  Judy and Jennifer were raised in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, in a 3 generational household of active Christian Scientists. Judy graduated from The Principia Upper School and received her BA in Journalism from Wayne State University in Detroit.

Judy's educational background and career were in print and broadcast journalism, corporate communications, and political public relations. She worked for many years as an award-winning writer for two major daily newspapers, including the Mid-western and Western Bureau Chief for the Christian Science Monitor.  She was responsible for the news coverage of 16 states when in Chicago, and covered 13 states when she was in Los Angeles.  An amusing article about her interviewing Ronald Reagan was re-published this last week in The Monitor Daily, entitled "Reagan on the Carpet".  During her years with The Monitor, Judy wrote a feature series - America's 10 Most Livable Citiesthat was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.

Jennifer earned a Ph. D. in political science from the University of Southern California.  Over the years she has worked as a part-time lecturer in the California State University system, and as a Research Analyst for Orange County, California.  She was also a grant coordinator for The Dayle McIntosh Center.  Currently Jennifer volunteers as the Treasurer of the Banning Ranch Conservancy in Orange County.

PERSISTENT EFFORT   The founders of this campaign are grateful that this early work has raised 1/3 of the goal.  In addition to this gofundme effort, neighbors and fellow church members have handed Jennifer checks and cash, paid for some of her meals, been generous in buying and helping her plant her vegetable garden, and are assisting in the selling or disposing of items in order to create income as she moves to a smaller apartment.   Jennifer is finding assuring comfort in the loving outreach.

Please spread the reach of this good work by sharing this campaign email with four friends (or more).

With much gratitude, Jane and Barry Morton
