Turn The Page Bookstore

Let’s keep the Page Turning!  Gofundme to assist Turn The Page Bookstore, Westfield
Westfield is a thriving community, but some of our greatest assets have been hit hard.  Turn the Page Bookstore, started as a dream of book lover Jamie Degler.  Jamie wanted to share her love of reading with the town she loved, and worked hard to open Turn the Page bookstore in the heart of Westfield.  She knew it would be a challenge, there was the ever-present Amazon, and of course Barnes and Noble right down the road, but Jamie offered all of us something different, something better.  Her store became a fun, and peaceful place to meet up with some old friends or make some new friends, and shop and socialize and laugh over the love of books, and a few other goodies only sold at Turn the Page.  Jamie hires local High School students, and teaches them the basics of customer service and retail, she offers her cozy place at no charge for local book clubs, and she always has a free cup of coffee or tea and a few comfy seats for customers to take a load off.  Famous authors have also realized the value of this retail gem and Jamie has hosted a few famous and a few up and coming authors for book signings.  If you are lucky, you will get to meet her charming daughters, who also help in the store.  New customers become old friends after one visit.

COVID19 hit hard, margins in the bookselling business are slim at best, and being mandated to close up shop has impacted Turn the Page more than ever could have been anticipated.  Jamie is a worker though, she reached out to customers and offered to deliver books to doorsteps, and many of us have taken her up on that-but sadly that is not going to be enough.  Jamie’s landlord is also a Westfield citizen, so investing in the store is investing in Westfield.  We need independent retailers, devoted to Westfield,  like Turn the Page in our city.   Stores like Jamie's are what makes us a strong and loving community-and if we want to keep a place as valuable as this haven of goodwill, we may need to pitch in and help just a little bit.  So I am asking you, to please consider donating to this GOFUNDME account to assist the Turn the Page bookstore dream to live on and service Westfield when she is allowed to reopen.  And if you have never stopped by, when we all return to our more social lives, please stop in.  Customers never regret the time spent at Turn the Page and I promise you will walk out of the store having made a new great friend.  Thank you for your consideration.
