TUCKER’S EBIKE

My name is Rodney Utt and I have lived in my house for the last 35 years, here in this 1930’s neighborhood called San Roque, in the original “Rutherford Tract”. I have known Tucker for the last few years. He is a part of our San Roque neighborhood. Tucker sells me avocados. I think his family’s property has trees.

Tucker just turned 22 this October, has 8 siblings, and among other things, suffers from PTSD. I was really happy for him when I saw him on his new turquoise ebike. He was a happy camper. This was a couple of years ago, then I saw him about a year ago and he seemed down in the dumps and told me that his ebike had been stolen. He told me that he doubled locked it to use the restroom at Mackenzie Park. The locks were both cut, and the bike taken during the short time he was inside.

I felt really bad for him. About 2 or 3 months later I saw Tucker on his beautiful turquoise ebike and asked him what happened. He told me that someone had seen his bike, called him, and with the help of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department, it was recovered, and the thief apprehended. What a great ending……except it wasn’t.

Tucker had a job at a local store and was told one evening by a new manager that he couldn’t bring his bike into the store’s office during his shift which is what he usually did. He had to double lock it outside the store under bright lights in front of a very busy parking lot. You guessed it……it was stolen once again.

Tucker has been feeling pretty defeated by life. I want to help him get a new bicycle. I have in mind the exact same one. A “Giant Transend E+ Momentum”. With the target amount raised, Tucker can get a new bike, including CA state sales tax, and hopefully have enough for a really good lock, and perhaps a new helmet, gloves, etc . An ebike will give him the opportunity to go to SBCC and get back and forth to work.

Please help me and the neighborhood get Tucker mounted up again. Thank you.
