PLEASE help us raise money for the families who have lost their homes in the devastating fires still raging across Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino and other counties in Northern California!
I am a homegrown Sonoma County child, who watched large parts of my childhood community burn to the ground on Monday 10/9. Since I now live across the country, my sister lives halfway around the world and my bother lives in Oregon, we cannot provide help in person, and we are trying to raise money to support all of our friends who have lost everything over the past 48 hours. http://www.pressdemocrat.com/news/7509212-181/fires-kill-a-total-of?artslide=0
My childhood home, where my mom, Carolyn Hoy, still lives, was in the mandatory evacuation zone in the Piner/Coffey neighborhood of Santa Rosa. I talked with her on the phone as she drove away from our home early Monday morning taking only her two dogs and baby photos of my sister, brother and I, not knowing what she would return to later that evening. We ended up being extremely lucky and the amazing firefighters from all over the Bay Area stopped the fired blocks away from our home.
We are now trying to raise money to support everyone who is less fortunate than us. My sweet mama bear and her friends from book club will be gathering the money raised and buying supplies needed in the shelters across the devastated area. They need everything from food to bedding to diapers to clothing.
Every dollar counts. If you have been wanting to help out but are not connected directly to a family who has lost their home, please help us to buy supplies and provide aid for those in need.
Please keep the families who have been affected and all the brave firefighters, police, medical professionals, and volunteers from all over the Bay Area who are working tirelessly to support a community in crisis in your heart and in your thoughts.
