Traveling the World with Huntington's Disease

I'm a 26-year-old recent college graduate, world traveler, and journalist. On May 4, 2023, I was diagnosed with Huntington's disease, an incurable genetic disease that I inherited from my mother who died last fall. Huntington's disease is a degenerative brain disease, meaning that I only have about 10 years left to my live my life normally before beginning to lose my faculties.

I don't want to "tragicize" my experience. I would just like to say that I'm incredibly grateful for everything I've been able to do in this life, and for all the amazing people I have met and will continue to meet.

Nothing has changed.

I plan to continue overpowering the smell of death with life's vibrancy. My dream is to continue traveling the world and writing until I am no longer able.

To that end, I plan to continue my adventures and journalistic career by returning to Ukraine. I was in Ukraine in July and August of 2022, but I had to return to finish my degree. Now that I am free I just want to go back there and witness it. The money raised in this fundraiser will not only support my endeavors but also support the people of Ukraine.
