Preserve historic workboat Python

Welcome to our GoFundMe page, where we aim to raise £2,000 to carry out some much needed maintenance for Python, our beloved historic work boat.

Python is a historic workboat owned by Chesterfield Canal Trust. She is used to maintain the canal, managed and crewed entirely by volunteers from the local community Python is one of only four remaining "Josher" narrowboats in the format of a shortened British Waterways workboat, and is on the National Historic Ships register.

Since coming to The Trust in 2009 her volunteers have completely restored her and put her back to work for the canal community.

Maintaining the boat can be expensive but we are committed to ensuring she continues working for the community into the future and this year she is due to be docked for maintenance on her hull.
