Transport for Thomas

Donation protected
Thomas is a typical cheeky 8 year old boy who loves playing video games, watching movies and playing with his mates. He is currently a year 3 student at Loftus Public School.

Thomas has a condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy. (SMA). SMA is a childhood version of motor neurone disease. It is a degenerative muscle wasting disease. Thomas is unable to walk or stand and has significant weakness in his arms and overall body. Thomas is reliant on a wheelchair for mobility. Thomas requires assistance in all aspects of daily living including dressing, toileting and showering.

Up until this point his parents have lifted Thomas to put him the car and can only take a manual chair when they go out. Small simple trips to the shops, swimming lessons and visiting friends houses are very difficult for the family because of this limitation. As he gets bigger, activities Thomas has always participated in, such as playing wheelchair soccer with friends, he is missing out on because of the logistics of getting him there.

Despite all of this Thomas does not let his condition define him. Anyone who meets him cannot help but be won over by his humour, positive attitude and passion for life.

We are hoping to raise enough money for a new car for the Wormleaton family. Once they have a new car they can apply for NDIS funding to modify the vehicle so Thomas can drive his motorised chair straight into the car. He and his family have faced so much hardship already it would be great to help them out and make their lives a bit easier and brighter. Every bit counts. We thank you for your contribution
