Transgender Pride Tran-American Bike Trip

Donation protected

I was assigned male at birth, but I have known since kindergarten that I was female. Growing up in a society that was anti transgender was incredibly difficult. Today, this is still very much the case even though a different reality is often falsely suggested. Being trans in America is a horrible experience. Significant problems facing the trans community include a lack of legal protection, employment barriers, poverty, harassment, anti-transgender physical and psychological violence and significant barriers to healthcare. As transgenders, especially ones who wish to fully transition, we are left with little resources to help us live as our true selves, resulting in a life without the full dignity we deserve, in the face of hate and humiliation.

What I’ll be doing
I will be cycling across America promoting transgender rights and raising funds for my own transition. My journey will begin in the outer banks of North Carolina at Ocracoke island. I will ride a ferry onto the mainland and will then bike across America, biking to Eugene, Oregon on the Trans-American Bike Highway. Along the way, I will promote trans rights by documenting my trip through video, social media and connecting with locals, educating and celebrating trans pride and the wide diversity of our country as an ally to all.
