Trans Equity Project, TPOC Led Program Needs Your Support NOW!
Trans Equity Project, a for trans/by trans advocacy and resource program located in North Philadelphia's Norris Square Park, is in need of your support. Due to recent funding cuts, the programs’ allocated budget was cut in half. We need your support to continue providing the critical work that is uniquely offered by the Trans Equity Project.
Trans Equity Project provides peer-based support for trans individuals (trans encompasses any individual who does not identify as cisgender). The program offers sexual health and HIV prevention counseling. The Trans Equity Project provides affirmation, mentorship with transitioning, help with name changes, legal advocacy, referrals for housing and food, and opportunities to build community to work towards trans justice through activities such as the annual Philly Trans March. In a time where the few, hard-fought victories of trans individuals are under constant attack from oppressive institutions, Trans Equity Project needs your support now more than ever!
The work that Trans Equity Project does is impactful and fundamental. A community member was taken back to find out Trans Equity Project provided free binders. They were moved to tears because it was the first time they had ever put a binder on, reaffirming their trans identity. With your assistance, we will continue to support our Trans siblings.
Mission: The Trans Equity Project, formerly known as the Trans-Health Information Project, a program of GALAEI, seeks to Co-power trans identified individuals and gender minorities through peer-based counseling and mentoring, education, advocacy, and community activism, employing sex positive and harm-reduction strategies, to improve quality of life, provide safer alternatives to risky behavior, and keep our clients healthy and well.

Bianca Pichardo is the Vice-Chair of galaei's Board of Directors. She has been a board member since June of 2016.
