Train Sahar to Run for Office

Without intending to, my family-- or at least the life I lived with my family-- taught me to give of myself when I can, because I can. I have taken that motto to heart through my friendships and my work. I've spent most of my adult life working to help others however I am able to, whether through professional or personal means.
Now, I am hoping to do more, to use my skills and experience and love of all things nerdy to serve my community in a different way. I am preparing and training to run for office.
I never thought I could be a decision maker. I never saw anyone like myself on the boards and commissions and councils in any of the dozens of places I lived. I was taught to stay away, to avoid "their" world.
But I've never been very good at being told what to do.
We need more people in office who understand policy, who can be boring and nuanced and passionate all at once. But we also need more women, more people of color, more immigrants, more people without money-- We need more people who understand through experience the realities of today's needs and struggles. I want to be one of those people.
I have been accepted into the Emerge California training program, which teaches Democratic women how to run a campaign- and win. The program began last weekend, and has already been amazing. My current target date to run is 2020, and Emerge will help me put together the plan, the network, and the knowledge to win.
The funds raised here will help pay for my participation in the program, as well as support the mission of Emerge. I received a $500 scholarship, but there is still a substantial cost to involvement, as well as a fundraising commitment. I am hoping to raise $3000 for the following purposes:
$1000---remaining tuition cost for program
$1000---fundraising commitment for the program
$1000---travel, supply, etc costs for 5 full training weekends, plus convention attendance
