Share the gift of education to the kids of Laguna de Apoyo:
All kids need in order to succeed is the gift of opportunity. With your help, we can provide access to education to all of the children living in the Laguna de Apoyo. The Laguna is one of the most beautiful places in the world, as anyone who is lucky enough to visit can tell you. Despite all of the beauty and community it houses, the local youth can not fully realize their potential if they can only learn within the confines of their homes. In the Laguna de Apoyo, there is no secondary school and, because of its remote location, it is difficult for adolescents to continue their education. Esmelda is one of the students in Laguna de Apoyo. She is usually found nose-deep in a book—or writing her own.
Esmelda is 11 years old and, like other 5th graders, she has dreams of what she might become when she grows up. She tells us she wants to become a doctor—she wants to help people, and her smile lets us know that she will. Many families like Esmelda’s cannot financially support the educational growth of their children. This is why we, at CocoMango, work to provide scholarships for the next generation.
Last year we sponsored 32 students to attend secondary school by paying for the cost of transportation, uniforms, and school supplies. This year we have 4 more students graduating the 6th grade with hopes to continue their education. One of which is Margina, who is looking forward to exploring a wider range of classes—her favorite so far is mathematics. We want to help Esmelda and Margina and all of their peers pursue their dreams. With your help, we can continue to support the growth and development of a community—driven by the education of its youth.
About Us
Proyecto CocoMango has been providing educational opportunities to kids and young adults in Nicaragua since 2014. Our scholarship program covers tuition, transportation, uniforms, shoes, and school supplies for the school year.In addition, this program provides a space where kids and their parents can work together on homework and school projects.
