Tom's Fijian Building Project

Hello everyone! I recently felt the need to do something ambitious and challenging that will make a difference to some people's lives. So, as of July 25th I will be volunteering for 5 weeks in Fiji, assisting to build a facility for one of the remote villages there. I'm very excited about this!
I am doing this through a charity called The Think Pacific Foundation, who have been working in Fiji since 2009. Poverty is an issue in Fiji, with over 75% of children in Fiji living below the poverty line and only half receiving access to adequate sanitation and fresh water. Think Pacific have supported over 20,000 children, improving education, health, opportunity and infrastructure. They have funded 48 building projects across 5 islands, including building 11 health clinics and installing fresh water to Wawa village.
I would be going out to help improve the infrastructure by building a facility along with other volunteers, whilst also embedding myself within the local culture, living with a local family, and gaining an incredible life experience doing so.
In order to do this amazing project, I need to pay a £1,100 project cost and also international flights! Over 30% of this fee directly funds the charities long term aims to support schools and communities. 37% would go to help fund me with accommodation, food, transport etc. The rest goes towards maintaining the charity itself. This is where you come in... I would be so so grateful for any donations to help me reach this target and support the work over in Fiji. Any amount is great and will help not just me but people who I can't wait to meet when I begin this project.
I've even set myself the challenge of running the Portsmouth Coastal Half-marathon in February, so i'm not asking for money without putting myself through pain!!
