They say it takes a village; and so we’re reaching out to our village to see if anyone can help out our mom and step-dad Tom with their current situation. On January 31, 2023 Tom was in a head on collision; we are thankful that his guardian angels were looking out for him this day to be able to say that he’s still with us. While physically he is bruised and battered; it looks like he is going to be ok and is going to be coming home very soon. Emotionally and financially, our parents are struggling. In fact they’ve been struggling for quite some time now and this was just the icing on the cake. As many of you may already know, back in January 2020 Tom received a heart transplant; again, his guardian angel was looking out and provided us all with a gift which allowed Tom to receive a new heart and prolonged life. One in which everyone he loves has benefitted from. Our children (his grandchildren) have been able to have time with their adored Papa; we’ve all been blessed with getting to know our step-dad a little more, his daughter Meagan still gets to have her dad, and our mother has been able to have a loving and caring husband. Unfortunately new hearts come with a cost; a big one. Mom and Tom have been struggling for years to catch up on medical expenses, in addition to all the other daily bills we receive. Tom and Mom even started their own online business to help supplement income; mom makes wonderful wreaths and Tom has been building furniture out of repurposed Pallets. Unfortunately the sales from these items are not enough to keep their head above water. This recent accident did something else, while Tom is ok, it took away their only means of transportation. It’s one thing to struggle not to pay for all the doctors’ visits, it’s another not to be able to go to the appointments. If you know anything about our mom it’s that she’ll say, “Family first.” A statement that has been instilled in us, and one we share with our children as well. While we are all chipping in to help the best way that we can, it’s still doesn’t seem enough. Which is why we are reaching out for help. We understand that money is tight these days (trust me we get it) but any little bit you can contribute will help. We appreciate you taking the time to read this and consideration to help.
