TOM KITTO - FUNERAL FUND

We need help to raise funds for a private funeral for Tom Kitto, who has passed away three weeks ago after years of ill health.
Tom lived all his life in Praze, latterly along School Road and has been a kind, familiar face around the village. He went to school in the village and worked for Regan Builders, Pool until an accident on scaffolding cut short his working life. Since then he would open and shut the public toilets in Praze every day, rain or shine for years. His health has suffered in recent years and he sadly died in Treliske Hospital, Truro.
Due to financial circumstance, Local Authority will not pay for a funeral for Tom. Chris Blewett of L. Blewett & Son, Funeral Directors, Praze, who has known Tom most of his life, has offered to donate his professional services for free if funds can be raised to the tangible costs of a private funeral/burial for Tom.
The initial target of £1400 will pay for a basic coffin, church service and burial. If any extra funds are raised, those monies could be put toward a basic plaque for the grave.
Tom was a simple man, he would not seek any grand funeral or lavish coffin...but he deserves better than a 'paupers cremation' with is all that he will receive unless funds can be raised. Tom's parents are buried at Crowan Church and he would certainly have wished to join them there.
This is a local, urgent cause - we need to raise the target fund within two weeks so L. Blewett & Son can start to make the arrangements for a burial for Tom in the New Year. Crowan Parish Council are indicating that they will be make a donation to this local cause and a collecting tin will also be in the Post Office at Praze from 13th December - 28th December 2018.
This is a local cause of a local man of Cornwall - we cannot rely on thousands of people giving to raise the monies, we have to rely on the local people of Praze and people who knew Tom through his life to give a little.....please help.
