To Our Toledo and NW Ohio Community -
We are so grateful for the continuous support all Toledo Streets Newspaper vendors receive from our community! As the COVID-19 crisis continues to develop, we have made the difficult decision to close our offices and suspend paper sales through the month of April and likely beyond. We believe this decision is the best way to responsibly serve our vendors and our community.
As many of you know, Toledo Streets Newspaper vendors are resilient, savvy, and creative. This is particularly true in how they choose to run their businesses selling newspapers. Since we are suspending paper sales, the vendors will no longer have foreseeable income from newspaper sales or writing articles. While this is sad news, we are initiating a plan to help our vendors through this crisis.
How You Can Help –
On Thursday, March 19th Toledo Streets Newspaper is launching a crowd funding campaign with the total goal of $10,868. This total is the exact amount of paper sales and writing commission vendors earned in the month of February 2020. At the end of April, our hope is to pay our vendors what they earned in February. While this is not a solution to the problem, it will provide our vendors with much needed income as they adapt to no paper sales and social distancing.
Among the many fears that this COVID-19 crisis has provoked, we understand that the economic and financial fears are heavy on many of our hearts. As you process your own struggle, we would like you to invite you to consider giving to this campaign to help our vendors who are also navigating those same fears and concerns. We can assure you that every dollar given to this campaign will go directly into the hands of those who need it most in our community.
Again, our vendors are tough, and they will be back selling newspapers as soon as possible. In the meantime, please join us in assisting them through this crisis. We understand this is a challenging time not just for our vendors, staff and TSN, but for everyone in our community and in our world. We appreciate your generosity and are continually overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from our Toledo community.
