As the war in Ukraine develops, hundreds of thousands of people are fleeing their beloved country to seek shelter across the border. Their first stop in the search for peace is my hometown, Przemysl, located by the biggest border crossing station, Medyka-Shehyni.
Local authorities, along with the people of Przemysl, are currently setting up temporary refuge centers around the city. Ukrainian families are being provided warm food and assistance in planning their onward journey.
In addition, the city President is in close contact with our Ukrainian neighbors just across the border - the authorities of the city of Mostyska and L'viv - to determine what their most pressing needs are at the moment. Nonperishables, mattresses, generators, wheelchairs, diapers - these are just a few examples of their direst needs.
Every penny we are going to raise is going to be donated to the fundraiser started by the president of Przemysl - Wojciech Bakun.
