Today would have been my father’s 57th birthday
Don protégé
On October 25, 2020, our father, Brant Burke, was found on a trail not far from his home deceased from a gunshot wound. As a result of an ongoing extensive police investigation, my father’s estranged wife, and his own brother, were charged with first degree murder in his death.
Because our dad was still married to one of the alleged murderers, my sister and I are now facing large expenses to settle his estate and face legal fees for issues such as gaining possession of his ashes and for visitation rights to our younger siblings. My sister spends hours on the phone with detectives, police officers and lawyers daily. I am dealing with all of this from across the country and need to travel from BC to Ontario several times over the next few years to assist my sister in dealing with this tragedy. This requires me taking time off of work without pay as I am self-employed. I am very afraid of compromising my small home-based business that I have worked so hard to build up over the past few years by taking time off to grieve this loss properly.
Your contribution, no matter what amount, will be appreciated in helping our family get through this traumatizing experience. Donations received will be used to help cover travel expenses, loss of wages and the initial $3000 minimum lawyer retainer. Donations can also be made directly by email transfer to [adresse courriel retirée] or through PayPal [adresse courriel retirée]
