Feeding through Sustainable Farming Project
Donation protected
My name is Zainab Dietel an integral member of the community group called the UK, Sierra Leone Partnership (UKSLP). We have been working with Croydon council to twin a school in the UK, with one in Sierra Leone. The chosen Schools were Winterbourne School in the UK and Kambia District Council (KDC) school in a small rural town in Sierra Leone. This relationship was in collaboration with ex-pupils of KDC to improve the educational facilities of the school for the sole purpose of promoting education.
Achievements to date:
We have managed to put in place a fully functional Library with the support of Winterbourne school and donations from the members,
We have provided Various indoor and outdoor sporting equipment for the school.
We have furnished the school with teaching (Whiteboards) and learning materials
And much more.
We give cash donations to the school for a cookout, twice a year for the children to
celebrate Eid and Christmas.
The economic downturn affects these rural schools much more than inner city schools because of the lack of high-paying jobs. Most families are simple farmers or small traders, so the dropout rate is quite high because of affordability as these children are called upon to help as breadwinners of their families.
Providing a meal a day for them will encourage attendance and promote education.
We would like this to be a sustainable venture by doing so through farming.
We are asking that you donate generously to make this a possibility.
