Friends,
For those who don’t know me, my name is Wassim Bari, and before I get into the details of why this GoFundMe page exists, it’s primarily to do with my Australian Permanent Residency Visa appeal.
So a little about my background, I first arrived in Australia in 2010 to travel, explore, improve my English and embrace everything that this amazing country had to offer. My story, in the beginning, was quite a ‘classic’ visa journey, in that it was initially a Working Holiday Visa, and I was fortunate a sponsorship through my employer (a well-respected
institution and live music venue called ‘The Bird’). Since then, Perth has become my home, and I have truly encompassed all facets of the Australian way of life.
In 2016 I applied for my Permanent Residency Visa, as I completed my two-year sponsorship, but unfortunately my application was refused because of a lacking and very blasé reference from back in my original hometown in Belgium. So the predicament I’m in now is that they gave me 28 days to leave the country or appeal the case, and take it to the tribunal.
This is where I need your help guys. While I have been tirelessly working since arriving in Perth, I need to raise enough money for the associated costs involved in appeal. The break down is as follows:
Hopefully everything can be resolved at the tribunal, and I always try and remain positive about the situation, but I have to be realistic in the fact that I may have to re-appeal.
I can’t stress how important this is to me. Australia has become my home after living here for 8 years now. The friends I’ve made over this period, have become my family, my support network, and all of you who I know have given me ‘the push’ to keep battling through the setbacks I have faced in trying to make Australia my permanent home. Since coming here quite young, I have now become a man, and I know what I want to do in both my life and career, and I know that I’d love to do these things in this beautiful land. I have always strived to be part of the community, and make it even better than what it already is through my drive, enthusiasm and passion.
To everyone who knows me, or only meeting me for the first time… I want to thank you all for the amazing support I have already received. I really do feel blessed knowing you all.
Lastly, by sharing this post, or even discussing it amongst your own social groups you’re helping me and getting me one step closer to my dreams.
