Museum Needs Collection Conservator

The most important element of any museum is its collection. All artifacts are looking glasses into the past that need to be carefully preserved. The information that they can share is one of hte most valuable tools a museum can offer the public.

The biggest problem an object faces is that it eventually decomposes. Every artifact has a finite lifetime and the goal of every museum is to extend that lifetime as long as possible. Without knowing the exact condition, type of damage, or cost to conserve, a museum is at a loss and can no longer connect properly with the collection and its history.

With your help, we can preserve and protect the most important part of Tinker Swiss Cottage Musuem and its intact collection of more than 10,000 artifacts all belonging to members of the Tinker family. Our goal is to raise $30,000 from this appeal. This will allow the museum to bring a qualified team of conservators to evaluate the entire Tinker collection, detail damages and recommend conservation strategies. With your help, the museum will be able to continue to institute a more effective way to conserve and protect this important part of Rockford's history.
