In May 2020, in addition to us already struggling to make ends meet due to me not having a job since January, Tim got a mouth cancer diagnosis, called squamous cell carcinoma.
Tim is getting treatment at MD Anderson in Houston, TX. 6/17/20 he endured a 10 hour surgery to pull 4 back bottom teeth, remove cancerous tissue and scraped the cancer from the jaw bone, removed his lymph nodes on his right side, which they felt were probably cancerous, then took skin, tissue and veins from his leg and grafted them into his mouth. He was in the hospital and none of us could see him with COVID19. We have been down here for several weeks.
With appointments and surgery, lodging, travel, making sure everything is taken care of at home, and food the bills are piling up. MD Anderson and our insurance doesn’t cover lodging and travel. We have several days before we return home, but we will be coming back 7/19 for his appointments and will start 5-6 weeks of radiation after his mouth heals from the skin graft.
The job I had set up fell through when COVID19 hit, and now I can’t look for work with taking care of Tim. He will be on the feeding tube until we come back here later in July. We have around $8,000 in bills already. If you could help us, any amount, it would be such a blessing, and would enable us to continue Tim’s treatment. If he doesn’t get the radiation, the doctor said there was a high chance of it coming back, but if he does get the radiation, there is a 95% chance of him beating cancer.
