Three Seeds Farm in Costa Rica

Donation protected
Three Seeds has been an organic Farm Camp for 15 years. Tamara Newton, the owner of 3 Seeds, has lived out there for 21 years. She named 3 seeds after her 3 children.

*** TAMARA'S DREAM***

When she was just 17 years old, Tamara had a dream to grow or make everything you can possibly eat and to have a fresh spring water source for the rest of her life and for her kids. Tamara married a native from the area and got divorced about 2 years ago. Now she's the only owner of Three Seeds.  She has been a signal mother for most of the time too.

Her dream has come true. She bought the land and started building her dream, 15 years later she now grows and makes almost EVERYTHING.

Now she also teaches farm to table cooking classes and gives workshops.

When she moved to El Brujo community she realized that there was not much education on Sustainable living and environmental awareness. :(

So she started by helping fund a covered greenhouse garden at the local public school about 12 years ago. Together with a local women's group, she started this project about 10 years ago. They have come together and are making positive changes in the community, raising awareness and teaching the community.

Now she wants to take her dreams to the next level. Talking to the community for years about how everyone needs gardens in there back yards and how everyone should start planting fruit trees reforestation with fruit trees and trees for wood. For years, no one was interested in that and even got angry at her --  crazy but true.  Just recently in a meeting, she talked to the community about the projects that the student groups might do this summer. She mentioned building gardens for families and doing reforestation on their lands. Everyone in that meeting agreed and would like to be a part of that project.

It is a project that will last forever, There is so much reforestation to be done. So the dream is further evolving! It took Tamara 15 years to change their mindset and agree to make the community more sustainable & eco-friendly.  Now she is certain that very positive changes are coming for the future.

*** ABOUT THE FARM ***
Three Seeds has a big farm house which once was a family home but now all the 3 seeds have grown up and moved away. So the Farm house is empty. Tamara is planning to make her farm house the main lodging for groups to come and stay there so the groups can do community service work and make the reforestation and garden building project a reality for her community.
The problem: The farmhouse is run down now and needs a makeover ASAP. That's why she needs your help to fix up the farm house.

To mention a few things that need to be done:
Change Roofing-  $6000
Paint whole house-  $1000
Sand and polish wooden floors- $2000
Bathroom repairs- $2000
Fix all electrical in the whole house- $6000
Labor- $10,000 give or take ??

This is only the beginning of a large project that is going to transform this beautiful piece of land in Costa Rica. Together with your help we can renovate Three Seeds and transform the farm into a schooling center for gardening and sustainable living.

The ultimate goal is: To build gardens for everyone in the community and teach the locals how to grow food. Right now most of them eat junk food, despite living in such an abundant place in the world! They know nothing about gardening but luckily there is Tamara to teach them - she speaks Spanish fluently and is an accepted member of the community.

Tamara can make a huge impact that will transform even the lives of future generations in Costa Rica. Let's support her with the funds she needs to take her dream to the next level!
