Hi everyone, We are raising money to fund legal expenses for a custody battle against our Sperm Donor who has petitioned a Maryland court for joint and sole custody of our son.
Your donations will help us retain a lawyer to litigate against claims of joint and full custody, legal parenting, unfit parenting , and criminal charges we strongly feel were brought against us in spite.
a little background, Maiya is a professional barber and met the Sperm donor in June of 2020 through her business of cutting hair. The donor, who was a client, offered to be a donor and also expressed his wish to co-parent with the couple. Shauntice & Maiya expressed they wanted to be a blended family. Shortly after, the three entered into an agreement and conceived a child using an artificial insemination procedure. Once the baby was conceived, the donor became distant and refused to build upon a familial relationship with Shauntice and Maiya and also meet terms of the agreement. During the pregnancy, Shauntice & Maiya tried hard to build a bond and healthy relationship for the sake of the child but the donor was reluctant. That became a cause of concern for the couple even through Shauntice’s development of an emergency illness. However, the baby was born and as of today, Shauntice and Maiya are the legal parents of the child. The donor has now petitioned a Maryland court for joint and sole custody of the child. His lawyer states that he did not feel the need to build a bond or relationship with the couple. As of October 13,2021, Shauntice and Maiya are representing themselves in this custody battle.
Shauntice and Maiya are thankful for each and every donation made towards this fund. Both are blessed to have such a strong supportive community willing to help in this time of need. All funds will go towards Shauntice and Maiya Skye’s attorney fees.
