Our close friend Theresa Mercado has been living with pain for quite awhile and has, after many health care frustrations and setbacks, finally been scheduled for major surgery that will get her on track towards being able to enjoy a normal, happy life again. But because of the invasiveness of the surgery, she will need to stay at home in recovery for an estimated 4 weeks, where she will be unable to work.
Theresa has a big circle of dear friends and fans but for those who don't know her, she is a funny, high-energy creative who lives with her partner and two rescue dogs. Aside of working two jobs, she runs a successful passion project 'Scream Screen' where she hosts and curates a reoccurring film series event—online and at a local movie theater. She has many obscure interests including bone collecting and cactus nursing. Highly passionate and deeply knowledgeable in subversive film, she's constantly organizing events, working on creative projects and bringing the Denver community together.
Theresa has health insurance but is responsible for a large deductible which is due the day of surgery (April 28). This fundraiser wishes to raise $6,600 to help her with that in addition to costs associated with a surgical assistant in the operating room and lost wages for the approximately four weeks she'll be unable to work while recovering.
