Hi, I'm Sachi Mai d'Or, a specially trained therapy dog. I've been working as a therapy dog for the past 6 and a half years throughout the United States. I've worked in assisted living homes in Wisconsin, Michigan, Florida, and Northern California at Juvenile Hall, Sacramento City College, retirement homes, memory care homes, and with the firefighters and victims of the Santa Rosa Fire. Currently, I work in the Puget Sound area near Olympia and Tacoma. I work here at elder homes and memory care and special events: State Librarian Conference, South Puget Sound Community College, Evergreen University, and workplaces where stress is so evident.

Currently, I am scheduled for upcoming medical treatments, so I can go on giving love and joy to those who need therapy in and around my community. In late May, I started to have bad seizures that were scary for my human mom (handler). So, Mom took me to an emergency veterinarian, Blue Pearl in Olympia, one night at 10:00 PM because she was scared I wouldn't make it through the night. The neurologist agreed I needed and gave me an MRI to diagnose what was happening. It was very expensive, but we needed to know what was happening to me. The doctor found a small tumor behind my olfactory part of my brain meninges. He recommended a few interventions. One was meds, but they would only help for a short time, surgery which would be very invasive, and also radiation treatments. This could actually shrink the tumor, and I could then go on doing my therapy work for a few more years. So, we decided that was the route to take. The cost is pretty expensive.

I will go next week for a CT scan and X-rays, then in October, I go in for 4 days of treatments 3 hours from my home. So, Mom is going to have to stay in a hotel so I can be with her each night before I go in again the next morning for the next treatment. I think most of you know humans who go through cancer treatments, and you know it is very expensive even with insurance, which I do not have. Also, it is grueling physically and emotionally.

So, I am reaching out to those who love dogs and perhaps have experienced therapy dogs at your school or workplace or perhaps you have met my late dog mom, Solene d'Or, therapy dog for 7+ years, or myself, or maybe you know someone who has beat cancer.

I am hoping you can help my mom with expenses and advance the curing of this devastating disease. I want to thank you ahead and hope I can continue to bring joy to others after I complete these procedures.
