The Palpant Sisters China Adventure

Donation protected
We are sisters.  Leiza, 27 yo, NASCAR employee, ukulele prodigy, lover of postcards and eating raw spinach straight out of the bag, and Keara, 24 yo, master's student studying occupational therapy, likes to think she can dance, lover of fat animals and hugs.  Although we are engaging in different life pursuits,  we share a passion for using our gifts and talents to help others, and a deep love for the underserved peoples of this world.  This is our story:

God is funny.  Don't you think so?  We think so.  The simple story is this, I (being Keara) never really had an interest in traveling to Asia, but God apparently has other plans.  Through a quick series of random circumstances I was put into contact with a woman in my church who runs an orphanage for special needs children in China.  Through conversations with her, it was as if God was lighting all my passions (for occupational therapy, orphans, overseas work, underserved/ostracized people groups, the list goes on) on fire.  The woman who runs the orphanage just continued to say, "Just come.  I really think you should just come."  I had never thought China would be a place for me, and yet in China there is a place the holds the exact population and setting I have felt passionate about since high school.  However I was uncertain.  As I am typing this I am in Malawi (WOO).  How could God be asking me to go to China when I would be spending three months in a different country?  There was just no way.  I had a couple of hesitations about even the idea of this trip, one being that I did not want to go alone.  I casually brought up the trip to Leiza, not expecting anything, just wanting to share the news with her and get her insights.  Her response was, "Do you think I could come?"  I was shocked.  What I didn't know when I asked, was that she had been thinking a lot about taking a missions trip to India, Korea, China, or Japan, but didn't know how to get there.  God is good people.  What became even more shocking was the only week I had free to go, was the only week she also had free to go.  One week people.  When God wants something done, He gets it done.  So we prayed together and asked God if He wanted us to continue to go down this path, and yes after yes, affirmation after affirmation, here we are.

Quick side note:  When we were younger we tried to convince our parents to adopt a baby girl from China because we wanted to make our family an even 3 girls and 3 boys.  So really we were divine prophets, and I think this trip is actually a sign that we  may just have to bring home a new baby sibling (HA HA mom and dad)

Leiza and I will be traveling to China (for safety purposes we need to leave it at that) March 4th through 11th.  The purpose of the trip is so that I can go and help where I can through my budding occupational therapy skills, and Leiza can go and love the heck out of these kids.  We also just really want to love on the woman running the orphanage, because she is doing beautiful things.

If you wish to financially support us in this journey, know that the money that we are asking for will go primarily toward our plane tickets and food while we are there.  Any additional funds left over will be used to buy adaptive equipment, toys, and supplies that the children may need.  Ideally we would like to buy our plane tickets by the end of the year.  If you are unable to support us financially we just ask that you send prayers and good juju our way as we embark out on this adventure together.  We thank you for any support at all, even if it just a hug or good luck.  We are incredibly grateful for the love we receive every day in all its forms.

This trip, although short, still holds incredible meaning and significance.  Love has no time constraints, no limits, no bounds.  We just want to love.  Will you join us?
