The Film

The Narrow Land is a documentary film conceived and directed by Jaiden van Bork that examines both the mythology and reality of Cape Cod, seeking to unravel the difficult questions that face the coastal community today as it confronts a barrage of overtourism and a subsequent housing crisis that has left locals scrambling to keep their feet planted in the sand.

Building on a wealth of existing historical research, The Narrow Land attempts to tell the story of Cape Cod through archival footage and a trove of chromolithographic postcards depicting the region, alongside my personal account of my childhood on the Cape and the experiences of myself and my loved ones of economic insecurity and the difficulties of living in a seasonal community.

What We Need

The Narrow Land is an ambitious student film funded by a few small grants that range in the hundreds of dollars. Your donation will help secure the remaining funding needed to complete this project in the final stages of development. This includes covering the excessive transportation costs associated with the film, along with reproduction fees for archival footage (which will be employed heavily throughout the film).

All donors will receive special thanks in the film's credits.
