Our dear friend, Heather Flowers (Lewis) was diagnosed with breast cancer in June at the age of 25. 1 in 1,674 (0.06%) of women develop breast cancer under the age of 30.
Heather is a 2nd grade elementary school teacher for Horry County Schools, as well as a Gold Ambassador for Plexus Worldwide, a company that promotes health and wellness.
2016 was supposed to be an extremely monumental year for Heather and her husband Cameron, except they did not know how extreme it would be...
Heather married Cameron on June 4th, 2016. The next day they left for their honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico. Other than the 10 hour flight delay coming back to South Carolina, everything had been better than perfect for the newlyweds to start their new lives together.

Heather attended a Plexus convention shortly after her honeymoon, and just a week later, everything changed. Heather received back test results for a lump in her breast that of course at 25, we all assumed would be fine. The test came back positive and Heather and Cameron have been on a ride that they did not ever imagine.
Everyone who knows Heather knows her selflessness, faith, positivity and strength in everything she takes on. She has a love for fitness and a healthy lifestyle. She is the last person we would expect to be faced with this fight at only the age of 25, but she has shown that she can overcome any obstacle placed in her path.
Heather has had surgery removing the cancer and is currently undergoing 8 treatments of chemotherapy. Heather is not able to work during this time that she is undergoing treatment and we do not know when she will return, taking a burden on family expenses including medical costs piling up.
I am training to run in the BB&T Corporate Cup, Half Marathon in Heather’s name on March 4th, 2017 in Charlotte, NC. All proceeds raised up until the race will be given to the newlyweds to help them pay for medical expenses as chemotherapy is still taking place.
Please help me show this couple that they are not alone in this fight!
