May is National Foster Care Month!! What a perfect month for everyone to be able to do a little something to be a part of the Village that helps kids and families.
The Village is a local non-profit that is set up to assist foster families in the Central KY area. It is located in Harrodsburg, KY. The Village accepts donations of new and gently used clothing, shoes, toys, baby and child gear and more to allow foster and kinship families to shop for free. Most children come into care with only the clothes on their back and little notice (a couple of hours is typical) for families that will be caring for them. It's impossible for families to keep clothing on hand for all genders, sizes and tastes and that's where The Village comes in...
The Village has a new location to better serve foster and kindship families! We need your help to get the space organized. There is a need for at least 100 large plastic bins and shelving to hold them so we can organize donations. This will allow families to come in and shop for what they need.
The bins are $6.00 each and the shelving costs $150.00 each (and at least 4 are needed). There is also a need for additional items like shelving for books and shoes and hanging racks for clothing.
These are one-time costs associated with organizing the space, but The Village is a non-profit organization that also has monthly fees of rent and water so any donations received above the amount need to organize will go directly to rental fees. If you need a receipt for your tax-deductible donation, let us know!
