Support the Imece Village Project

Founded in 2014, the mission of Imece Inisiyatifi has always been to help those in need. Our original work consisted of providing aid for those living in poverty in and around Izmir. Upon the beginning of the refugee crisis, our priorities changed.

In 2015, the streets of Cesme, Turkey became an important town for population movement across the Aegean Sea as a result of the situation in the Middle-East. This was our calling to begin providing emergency relief and distributing goods (food, water, baby formula, diapers, hygienic supplies, etc.) to refugees attempting to cross from Cesme into Greece.

However, since the EU-Turkey agreement of March 2016, refugees now need to complete all of their administrative authorizations from within the Greek islands. This can take years to complete, and during this time, many refugees are staying in camps with very poor conditions. Because of this, many refugees have opted to stay in Turkey, many of whom are living in unofficial camps in extreme poverty. These refugees are in need of self-autonomy, and so, we took it upon ourselves to develop the Imece Village Project in 2016.
