On Tuesday, November 10 our dear friend and colleague collapsed due to a sudden heart attack. He was at home in Westchester and was taking care of his 3 year old daughter Emma while his wife Yiyang was at work. By the time she returned from work it was sadly too late and he had passed from this world.
A gentle soul with a quick wit and a ready smile, Tom enriched the lives of all those he met and left behind fond memories of the time that we spent with him.
Tom was working as a self-employed consultant but had been looking for full-time work for a few years. The pandemic made this even more difficult but Tom never gave up hope and was learning new technologies to boost his resume. Yiyang had been working part-time to make ends meet and Tom was overjoyed to be spending time and taking care of Emma while he looked for his next opportunity.
He had been feeling unwell for the past week but was unable to get to the Doctor's as they had no one to leave Emma with. Unfortunately by the time the paramedics showed up Tuesday evening it was too late.
This fund is being set up to help Tom's family get through the funeral, rent, childcare and other daily expenses. Tom had limited savings and no life insurance plan.
