Who we are...
The Chakra Lounge is the first ever Lounge Café based in heart of spa town of Buxton, Derbyshire. We opened and started out with an idea for us to bring the exotic taste of the Eastern culture fused with appealing food from the West. Whether you are looking to kick back and relax with a drink, read a book or meet up with your friends for chill out board game, we have it all here for you.
Living in this hectic world of study and work it's important at times to escape, recharge, relax and rejuvenate. For this, The Chakra Lounge offers a variety of Vegan, Vegetarian, ‘raw-centric’ and Non-vegetarian food and drinks. We can assure you enjoy a premium experience.
What we value...
"Seva" is a Sanskrit word meaning selfless service. In ancient India, Seva is believed to help one's spiritual growth and at the same time contribute to the improvement of the community. This is the art of giving and the art of blessed action. Our values are defined by ancient Indian tradition Seva. It is part of human instinct to care about making others happy.
Seva is conveyed through having a big, warm, welcoming heart. This value of ours encourages us to be incredible, top of the line in at all that we do within and outside of The Chakra Lounge. Over and above our dedication towards offering a harmonious and relaxed experience. Seva also entails an individual commitment from all our staff members to embrace guests at The Chakra Lounge and make them feel the warmth of our family from the bottom of our hearts.
There is an expression in Hindi, Aaram Se '(आराम से)' which basically means to ease down and be comfortable. It is the rule of thumb in India which we are fusing into The Chakra Lounge because if you do things Aaram Se, good things will come your way.
What "SEVA" we have done before?
At The Chakra Lounge, we have come across many around us; people who have suffered the loss of their loved ones, people who are alone this Christmas, and why, even people who have never experienced the small joys of receiving gifts too!
This is why we focus on Seva; on giving back as much as possible to community that nurtures us. With initiatives such as Pound Per Table and Pay It Forward, we hope to instill a sense of selflessness and gratitude by providing for the less fortunate.
By conducting the NHS Meal Initiative (offering free meals to front-line medical workforce of the National Health Services) and the School Meal Initiative (providing free meals to students), we have constantly strived to make a positive difference in the lives of everyone in our community. And that’s exactly why, with the immense support and kindness that we’ve been showered with this year, we know that we can do more!
What "SEVA" we are doing this season?
Is there a better way to spread the Christmas cheer than by gifting your near and dear?
To have them over at your place to share a delicious meal together?
We believe not!
While gathering ‘tis season may look grim, you can do something much better that’s filled with love and purpose.
In the spirit of Christmas, we are committed to not only donate, but to make an actual difference and end this year on a blissful note!
We reached out to 20 care-homes in and around Buxton/ Sheffield in hopes to offer solace this blessed season.
To be very honest, we were taken aback by the number that we received.
We realized that these homes took care of over 100+ individuals who have never had any kind of contact with their families for years, people who aren’t expecting anyone to spend time with them this season, or even to be called home with love for a Christmas meal.
We wholeheartedly believe that everyone deserves to be happy after the year we’ve had.
Hence, we are raising funds to offer 100 care-home residents with a delicious festive meal, a bottle of drink and a special gift on Christmas Eve.
All funds shall be allocated solely for this very purpose. With how much ever we receive, be it more or, hopefully not, less, we pledge to provide Christmas meals accordingly.
And what’s more? For every 5 meals that we can provide after we accomplish our goal, we will add one special meal on our behalf!
How can you help?
With the price of a coffee for a friend or the bus fare to the mall, or even, a loaf of bread, you can be a Secret Santa and gift someone with a reason to smile this Christmas.
We also understand that some may not be able to contribute at this very moment.
Nevertheless, you can still be a part of this initiative.
