‘The Girlfriend Experience’ is a new musical/graduate short film written and produced by Filmmaking students at Manchester Metropolitan University. A fresh feminist take on the world’s oldest profession, set to the sound of today. The film will be screened at the 'Pause' film festival, which last year sold out. This will be screened to the general public at HOME cinema as well as being submitted to other festivals. Our talented team is hard at work, taking this exciting new concept off the page and into pre production, but we need your help!
WHAT IS THE FILM ABOUT?
‘The Girlfriend Experience’ is an original musical that follows Ruby, an independent escort, addicted to the escapism of her work. When a new client comes into her life, asking Ruby to take on the role of his deceased wife, a complex relationship quickly ensues. The film follows an empowered woman lead who realises she is not in control of her life anymore. A new brief makes her acknowledge the reality of her life and regain control.
