Help us grow The Garden at Maroubra, NSW

Donation protected
We are a 100% volunteer-run non-profit Community Group made up of volunteer residents in the Maroubra community who have created a resource and destination that our community, and those around us, can share, engage and connect with around organic gardening, sustainability and community connection. The Garden was founded in April 2019, has been approved/endorsed by Randwick Council and was opened on 19 Nov 2022. The Garden is funded completely by donations and grants.

Maroubra is a community in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs with over 30,000 residents and one of the most beautiful coastlines and natural reserves in the area. The Garden at Maroubra project was borne out of the desire to create a beautiful, accessible community destination around gardening that connects, educates and invigorates our community around organic gardening and related sustainable practices including seed saving, organic pest control and composting.

The purpose of The Garden at Maroubra:

·      To create a shared garden space which teaches and utilises organic practices to produce chemical-free produce (vegetables, herbs, fruit, eggs, honey)

·      A community space where Maroubra's passionate learner-gardeners can develop and nurture their love of gardening through an accessible, aesthetically pleasing and abundant space

·      To support the education of local Maroubra residents on organic and environmentally sustainable practices which community members can apply in their own residences/areas including the new FOGO bins

·      Provide a resource and working example for the Maroubra community on organic gardening and related sustainability practices such as water saving, composting, seed saving, plant propagation etc.

·      A community resource that can engage and support our community members in the South Maroubra Community Housing complexes through on-site organic gardening workshops, enabling residents to engage in organic gardening practices around the housing complex, creating a positive activity for residents to develop independence and purpose.

·      To educate Maroubra residents about bush food cultivation/plants native to the area, through partnerships with local First Nations nurseries.

·      To assist Randwick Council with green waste reduction and support the Council's sustainability initiatives.

But we need your help to continue to develop The Garden!
