The Chanticleer Players get to EdFringe 2022!

Donation protected
Good morrow! We’re the Chanticleer Players, a non-profit community theatre company founded in Surrey in 2015 and currently based in Farnham. What started as a small company of five has grown into a community across Surrey Heath and Hampshire. We aim to bring magic, joy and laughter to all who cross our path and create stories that warm the heart.

In 2019, we debuted our show ‘The Mystery of the Bonnie Sporran and the Loch Ness Monster’ at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to glowing reviews. The Ed Fringe Review said our production was ‘ “Agatha Christie meets Oscar Wilde meets Shakespeare comedy [...] definitely worth seeing”.

This year we’re raising funds to take Scotland by storm with a brand spanking new 1950s comedy murder mystery - ‘The Mystery of the Wee Pirate’s Curse’. Our cast consists of alumni and current students from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts and Guildford School of Acting. Our merry band has worked together for over ten years in various projects for both stage and screen, and we can’t wait to bring another Chanticleer original to you. With new characters, a fantastic ensemble and bucket loads of ambition - we need your help to make our vision a reality.

What We Need & What You Get
We are attempting to raise £5,000 to cover much needed essential expenses such as accommodation, accessibility needs and production costs along our travels. With the Fringe unable to open its doors for nearly 3 years, the demand for audiences to attend and creators to showcase has skyrocketed - as have the prices.  As a band of 9 hand-selected players, we are attempting to cover as much ground as possible, but we need help along the way.

With your donations we aim to cover the cost of:
- Production costs such as venue hire, application fees, insurance and costume maintenance.
- A portion of the accommodations expenses (which have more than doubled since our run in 2019!)
- Transport to/from Farnham - Edinburgh and accessibility costs to the venue
- Basic living costs for cast and crew

In return for your generous donations, you will receive:

£5 - A shoutout on our social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram)

£10 - A Chanticleer Players badge

£25 -  A signed poster from all cast and crew

£50 - Two tickets with two glasses of fizz at our exclusive Ed Fringe Preview

£100 - Two tickets to our Ed Fringe Preview, two glasses of fizz and a spiffing 1950s picnic hamper with jolly spiffing treats for you to enjoy before the show.

‘The Mystery of the Wee Pirate’s Curse’ Synopsis:
It is 1952 and the spiffing Summer Hols are here at last, what larks indeed!  Young Lady Iris Bungle finds herself in bonnie Scotland assisting her theatrical, spunky cousin Lord Dicky Hardwick as he prepares for his debut as Hamlet in Hamlet the Musical. However, all is not as it seems… When Iris stumbles upon a rather swashbuckling adventure! Lost treasure, vengeful ghosts and a jolly mystery to boot! With lashings and lashings of ginger beer, join Iris as she endeavours to solve The Mystery of the Wee Pirate’s Curse!

We appreciate any kind of support you could offer! If financial contributions are not an option at present, we invite you to spread the word and share this page with friends and family, or why not come and see the show for yourself!
