The Buckthorn Stops Here
Tax deductible
Volunteer stewards working in Somme Woods are restoring a now-rare natural oak woodland. Hundreds of species of mostly rare plants (and, indirectly, animals) are benefitting. Hundreds of people contribute annually as volunteers. Many schools and day-to-day visitors enjoy, study, and appreciate the conservation importance of these increasingly beautiful woods. The Forest Preserve staff helps, but they are spread thin.
We have been challenged to match a grant which would help us pay for a crew of young professionals to help with some heavy lifting (for example, chain-sawing of invasive brush). As a part of our total goal of $7,000, we hope that this GoFundMe campaign could get the ball rolling to the tune of $2,000 by December 31.
Hundreds of volunteer stewards and thousands of plants and animals would appreciate your contribution so much. So, we think, would the Planet.
