My name is Ava Kaplan and I am going to become a Bat Mitzvah in 2018. A Bat Mitzvah is when a girl turns 13 and is considered an adult in the Jewish tradition. In the process of becoming a Bat Mitzvah you have to do a project that impacts others in a positive way, and I chose The Birthday Party Project. I would like to host my first party in August with the goal of hosting one party every month until my Bat Mitzvah in May. I would be so grateful if you could help me along the way!
Every year thousands of homeless children go with their birthdays uncelebrated. But the Birthday Party Project changes that. Basically we take donations to buy presents, decorations, and a cake. Then we throw a party for the kids that have never celebrated their birthday before. I have chosen the Samaritan Inn as the location for my parties. Since 1984, The Samaritan Inn has been working hard to provide necessary services to people experiencing homelessness. Many are surprised that homelessness is an issue here in north Texas, but every single day people appear at their door completely out of options. Right now, there are 54 children living at the Inn.
At each party we will celebrate all children that have a birthday that month, and we invite everyone staying at the Inn to participate in the party!
Your donation will truly make a difference. I want to show these kids that they really matter and that JOY can come out of any circumstance. Here are some suggested donations:
All donations are tax-deductible.
$25: gift for the birthday child
$50: cupcakes and party favors
$100: decorations and games
Thank you all so much for your kindness and generosity!
