The Arif Hussein Water Project

There are no words nor expression to describe the sadness and shock that dwells in our hearts after losing our father, brother, uncle and friend Arif, husband to dear Kathryn. Arif was a victim to the deadly virus, COVID-19. He fought hard to survive the infection to his lungs but unfortunately, on the evening of Wednesday 20th January 2021, the virus took his life.
It is unbearable to accept that we will never see him, nor hear his joyful voice again. The shock that we are feeling is indescribable. We are still, very much, in the grieving process and are still struggling to come to terms with the loss of our Arif. He was a loving and devoted husband, and doted on our dear Kathryn every time I had the pleasure of seeing them together. When with his children Omar and Soraya, his eyes sparkled with pride and he melted into everlasting hugs and kisses. His passion beamed through us all when speaking of his inspiring career in films and media and aspirations for the future.
Our family are determined not to let Arif become a statistic. Thus, I am starting this page on behalf of Arif’s family, as a first step in our healing journey, in an effort to keep him alive and very much present in our lives forever.
We intend to raise funds and dedicate a project of aid in Arif’s name. It will be a place of sanctuary, hope and love as he was for us. Arif lived his life to look after others and we wish to continue his legacy by funding the construction of a series of water wells in countries where they are desperately needed. Clean water is essential for life and by working together with Muslim Hands we are planning to build wells to provide this essential resource. Muslim Hands is a UK based international aid charity that successfully delivers water infrastucture including wells and pumps throughout hundreds of underdeveloped countries. The funds raised here will go to Muslim Hands to deliver a Water Filtration Plant on our behalf.
As well as being able to provide critical water wells to those who most need them, should funds allow, we would like to work on helping to deliver education in Pakistan, something that Arif had expressed his desire to do. If you are able to donate as deeply as you can then you will help us to provide these two incredibly important resources, water and education, in areas that lack them already.
