The initial $2,000 goal of this GoFundMe was to invite grassroots support of this annual community project in order to cover skyrocketing material costs due to the pandemic. Indeed, The Community stepped up: mission accomplished! The Famous Sandy Hook Pier 2021 is complete and better than ever, thanks to grassroots supporters like YOU!
The revised $10,000 goal of this GoFundMe continues to invite community support for The Famous Sandy Hook Pier to augment the ongoing support from The RM of Gimli and others so that this historic community place has solid grassroots financial standing for years to come.

The Famous Sandy Hook Pier is an iconic community place and landmark on the shore of Lake Winnipeg, located at 11th Avenue in Sandy Hook, Manitoba. This seasonal wooden pier has been part of the Sandy Hook landscape since 1939, serving both as an access point to the beach and as a community gathering destination. It is a place of generations of joyful summer memories. The pier is annually constructed and deconstructed, with much of it being stored for re-use in subsequent years. The Famous Sandy Hook Pier is the ONLY public wooden pier in the RM of Gimli, and in 2020 it was the ONLY public wooden pier in the entire Interlake. The 2020 version of TFSHP was constructed with a unique "COVID-Compliant" design so that people could safely enjoy and use the pier during the first summer of the COVID-19 pandemic. This COVID-Compliant design is the plan for 2021 as well.
The Famous Sandy Hook Pier is like an old family friend: a friend who knows you, your parents, your grandparents... a familiar soul who you know you can count on. If there's any time in our history that we need to know a friend like that will be there for us, it's now.
