At Kusuubira Women Foundation we are committed to empowering teenage and single mothers from marginalised rural communities in Uganda. 1 in 4 girls becomes pregnant before the age of 19, and only 22.5% of adolescent girls enroll in secondary education. Teenage pregnancy remains one of the leading causes of school dropout, reducing economic opportunity and increasing vulnerability.

This is the reality we are working to change.

What we do:

We foster self-sustainability, independence, and economic empowerment by enabling our participants to create, market, and sell their own products. We do this by training them in hands-on skills, self discovery, ICT, and entrepreneurship.

In addition, our School Outreach Program which we started in 2025, reaches adolescents in schools to raise awareness about teenage pregnancy prevention, gender equality, and the importance of education.

Our Progress

In 2025, our Women's Skills Training Program graduated 17 women. Among them, two emerged as outstanding achievers, while 15 received material loans to help launch their own small enterprises. Through our Community Outreach Program, we reached over 100 women in

Kyasanku Village. This was achieved in collaboration with 10 local enterprises and through workshops focusing on jewelry making, self-discovery, and hands-on vocational skills.

Over three months, our awareness campaigns reached 521 students across five schools in Mpigi District: Umeya Primary School, Ruben College, St Kizito Primary School, Mpigi Muslim School and Green Vocational College. The sessions promoted the prevention of teenage pregnancy, gender equality, and the importance of education, empowering students with the knowledge and skills needed to make informed choices.

The Reality

1 in 4 Ugandan teenagers become pregnant by the age of 19 and only 22.5% of adolescent girls enroll in secondary education. Teenage pregnancy is a major obstacle to girls' education, leading to school dropouts, limited economic opportunities, and increased vulnerability to exploitation. That is why we are implementing a comprehensive school outreach program that targets adolescent girls and boys in primary and secondary schools, focusing on preventing teenage pregnancy, promoting gender equality, and fostering a culture of solidarity and mutual respect among students.

Our Goal

Building on our success, we aim to impact around 8000 students directly in 2026, expanding our reach to more schools and communities that have asked us to facilitate workshops and outreaches but for that we need money.

How You Can Help

We're seeking funding to support our awareness campaigns in 20 schools, with a total campaign goal of 8 901 900,00 Ugandan shillings (approximately $1,200 USD). This will enable us to:
